About Soften

Soften is a communication tool designed to help couples work through conflict more constructively. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care, couples therapy, or crisis support.

Who can use Soften

You must be 18 or older to use Soften. By creating an account you confirm that you are 18 or over and that you agree to these terms.

Appropriate use

Soften is intended for use between consenting adults in a mutual relationship. You must not use Soften to harass, coerce, manipulate, intimidate, or harm your partner or anyone else. Inviting someone to Soften without their genuine consent is not permitted. We reserve the right to terminate accounts where misuse is identified, and may report conduct to relevant authorities where required by law.

Not a crisis service

If you or your partner are in immediate danger, please contact emergency services (000 in Australia). Soften is not a crisis service. If you are experiencing domestic violence, please contact 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732).

AI-generated content

Soften uses AI to help refine messages and generate summaries. AI-generated content is not professional advice. Soften and its operators are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content.

Your content

You retain ownership of the content you write. By using Soften you grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely to operate the service.

Account termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Soften after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

No warranties

Soften is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results obtained from use of the service will be accurate or reliable. Use of Soften is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Soften and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service — including but not limited to relationship outcomes, emotional distress, loss of data, or decisions made based on AI-generated content. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Soften and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms.

Service availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Soften at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
