Soften is built on the belief that what you share here is deeply personal. We treat it that way.

We collect your name, email address, and optionally your mobile number. We also store the messages and responses you write within the app, daily check-in responses, and the AI-generated summaries produced from your conversations.

Your data is used solely to operate Soften — to facilitate conversations between you and your partner, generate insights, and send notifications. We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except as required to operate the service (AI processing, email delivery, SMS delivery).

Soften uses Claude (Anthropic) to help shape messages and generate conversation summaries. Your message content is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of this data.

Your data is stored on secure servers. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.

Your partner can see the messages you send to them through Soften and the shared conversation summaries. They cannot see your private check-in responses unless you have both opted into sharing. They are not notified when you change settings or access safety features.

Soften complies with the Australian Privacy Act 1988. You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. To make a request, contact us at hello@getsoften.app.

If your partner deletes their account, shared conversation data associated with their account will be removed. Your own account and any data you hold independently will remain unaffected.

Soften uses session cookies solely to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We may collect basic, anonymised usage data (such as page load times) to maintain and improve the service.

In the event of a data breach likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
